A Pair of Cloisonne Enamel Incense Burners in the Form of Standing Quails

The backs and wings of each bird are removable covers.  The birds look sharply to the side, with their beaks open.  The layering of the wing feathers is rendered in strips of brightly coloured enamels on a blue background.  A white streak runs down the chest of each bird.  The eyes are detailed in white enamel with red pupils and arched eyebrows; the beaks and feat are gilded.
